Women and Children Empowerment Centers «Abhaya» and «Fatima» to be continued!
In the two Sambhali Educational Sewing Centers «Abhaya» and «Fatima» women of the Dalit caste as well as underprivileged women from the muslim community receive a free education to become a seamstress or a stitcher. After completion of a one year training, the women can continue to work against payment in one of the «Graduate» Centers where they produce articles which are sold in the Sambhali Boutique.
Should the women not wish or be able to continue their work with Sambhali after their one year training, they receive free of charge a sewing machine to enable them to work from home and to thus contribute to the daily expenses of their families (often the only money earned in the family).
In order to keep «Abhaya» and «Fatima» operating for another year, a total amount of CHF 20,000 was needed from April 2017.
With CHF 30’000 COFRA Foundation in Zug, Switzerland, is financing for two years the operation of the two existing Women Empowerment Centers «Abhaya» and «Fatima» of Sambhali Trust in Jodhpur.
In the two centers, 60 women and adolescent girls receive vocational training and are provided a.a., with literacy in Hindi, English and Maths. In the new Children’s Center, 40 children aged 3-12 years will receive free primary education. The amount will be transferred directly to Sambhali Trust. ANSHULA will be responsible for the controlling of the success of the projects on location.
